Member SpotlightIntroducing: The Absurd

by Steve Cherkassky October 8, 2020

When I’m in the mood for the harder stuff — meaning music — I start to wander around the LA Rock scene in search of something special. The Absurd are a power trio that definitely fit the bill. Their latest single “Hollow Land” is riddled with chunky funk-inspired guitar riffs and a tight rhythm made for dancing. They even have a new album coming out on November 2nd called “The Sun Still Rises.”

The Absurd have been grinding in the LA Rock scene for a number of years. They’ve amassed quite the loyal following as prominent fixtures of what is known as the West Side Revival (WSRVVL). They’re sometimes misunderstood due to their provocative choice of politically-charged song titles — “Build The Wall” being an example. However, if one were to delve into the lyrical content of each song, it would become apparent that open-minded nuance and rebellion reign supreme.

Ben Foerg’s screeching electric guitar riffs and baritone bellows are accompanied by Josh Loney’s stellar, groovy bass work, and Colin Jensen’s thrashing gymnastics on the drum set. He also has a wicked Mohawk.

Dance Your Cares Away

The Absurd wrote on Facebook of their newest single, “If our new track “Hollow Land” doesn’t make you wanna dance, then nothing will.” The band’s music, to its core, is aimed at making people move their bodies without worry.

“If our new track “Hollow Land” doesn’t make you wanna dance, then nothing will.”

One can expect more straight up bangers when The Absurd’s new album comes out on November 2nd. After doing some research regarding PR, I found that a portion of the LP was recorded at Canyon Hut Studios, which is built into the side of a house previously owned by Shock Rock legend, Alice Cooper.

We at Indiscovered want to welcome The Absurd as a member of our community, and wish them well with the release of their upcoming sophomore album!
